How to create a beautiful garden behind a shady Brooklyn brownstone with an active dog? To solve the challenges of this space, I decided on an elegant yet approachable outdoor room with many smaller partitions to accommodate a wide range of uses, including a rambunctious puppy. The bluestone walkway and low wall lend structure and contrast to the texture and colors of the plantings, while the second floor deck provides a sunny and serene spot to view the garden from above.
